My teaching philosophy:

It is not expected that all students will become professional musicians. My philosophy is that each student is treated in accordance with their needs and desires. I hope to provide each student with the skills that can provide a lifetime of enjoying and making music. If I had a dollar for every time an adult told me they wish they would’ve learned the piano growing up, I’d be rich

Classical Technique:

It can be expected that all students will be trained classically. They will be taught to identify, read, and understand musical/rhythmic notation. They will also learn proper technique at the piano requiring time and patience. It is much easier for a student to learn technique as a beginner than years down the road. Concepts of using the mind, body, and spirit will be taught to enable the students to become the best musicians they can be.

Personalized:

Students are taught through an individualistic approach. All students are taught in accordance with their strengths and abilities at the piano. If a student is grasping skills quickly, teaching will help progress the student as quickly as the student is capable. If a student has trouble grasping concepts, teaching will accommodate the learner and move slower through the learning process.

Consistency:

There is nothing that can be traded for consistent practice time. It is better for a student to practice 10 minutes 5 days per week than 50 minutes one time per week. Consistency is key to learning music fundamentals. As the student advances, more consistent practice time daily will be needed in order to continue progressing. While all of this appears to be an intense process, flexibility is provided to students.
